RESPONSIBILITIES

The Board of Directors is ultimately responsible for the Credit Union’s adherence to all applicable laws and regulations governing collection, use, or disclosure of nonpublic information obtained from members in the ordinary course of business. The Board designates executive management to direct the activities required to implement and maintain compliance with this policy.

To ensure that the member can rely upon the quality of products and services made available and be assured of the strictest confidentiality of the nonpublic personal information we obtain, the Credit Union stands behind the following privacy policy guidelines:

  • The Credit Union will collect only the personal information that is necessary to conduct its business. That means just what is necessary to provide competitive financial products and services and no more. We collect this information about members from applications and other forms, information about member transactions with us, our affiliates or others, and information we receive from consumer reporting agencies.
  • The member will always have access to their information. They will always have the opportunity to review their information and make necessary changes to ensure that the Credit Union’s records are complete and accurate.
  • The Credit Union will only share information when it is absolutely necessary. The Credit Union will only share information to administer the products and services they provide, when required to do so by the government, or when they partner with other businesses to offer a broader array of products and services.
  • The Credit Union will partner only with businesses that follow strict confidentiality requirements. The businesses selected will offer products designed to enhance the member’s economic well-being. Under no circumstances will the Credit Union authorize these firms to charge the member’s account without their express consent, and the Credit Union will not sell member information to telemarketing firms.
  • Privacy information to members and responding to inquiries. The Credit Union recognizes and respects the privacy expectations of its members.  The Credit Union wants its members to understand the Credit Union’s commitment to privacy in the use of member information.  As a result of the credit union’s commitment, we have developed this Privacy Policy which is made readily available to the members.  Members who have questions about this Privacy Policy or have a question about the privacy of their member information should call Brainerd BN Credit Union at 218-829-9065 or toll free at 877-829-9065.
